Its safe to assume that most americans won’t switch to eco friendly energy because they think that it won’t make an impact and energy companies think its impossible to make the power grid 100% eco friendly, but Mark Z. Jacobson of Stanford in theory proved that wrong by devising a plan assuming everything uses electricity home heating, cars, etc… He and Mark Delucchi devised individual plans for each state on how they could switch to clean energy using the technology we have today. And by switching the job market will be impacted significantly giving thousands of americans jobs to build the material required for the clean power. Not to mention the it’ll reducing the US healthcare by 600 bil due to pollution going down, and 46000 premature deaths associated with pollution. But nothing is currently calling for the US to change the way it power is managed, major companies don’t want to spend huge amounts of money just to help the environment because the impact won’t be seen in their lifetime. There will come a point in time when the is dire need of change and only then will they change, when it’s too late to stop the damage already being caused.
The globe has warmed 1 degree Celsius since the 1970, basically in 45 years the earth has warmed so if we think about a couple of hundred years ahead with the technology enhancements that we’re discovering, and with he population increasing more and more energy will needed to supply those people with power and currently oil prices is low which makes it cheaper to burn oil then switch to cleaner alternative energy such as solar. to get earth to stop at 2 degree Celsius the developed countries need to reduce fossil fuels by at least 80%. But the developed countries are ignorant since climate most affect them like it would other 2nd and 3rd world countries. with the deforestation that’s going on around he world is another huge cause due them releasing large amounts of carbon and because there is no more trees to absorb said carbon it just stays in the atmosphere. the developed countries need to switch to cleaner alternative energy before the damage becomes irreversible.
this article argues against the statement that higher co2 levels cause climate change. under recent tempature trends is says that since 1880 earth has experienced both increases and decreases in tempature but they dont mention that overall there is still an increase in tempature only that it drops a small amount, that small drop every couple of decades could be caused by something else and the overall increase could be caused by co2
The main causes of c02 emissions are electricity, transportation, and industry. Electricity accounts for over 1/3 of total U.S. co2 emissions since coal and fossil fuels are huge money makers for people running those business, these people aren’t willing to expend their money into cleaner, more renewable energy, they’re money greedy corporations. Transportation accounts for a little under 1/3 of total U.S. co2 pollution, most people won’t switch to more energy efficient cars because they don’t want to have another monthly charge, or when they think of electric car, they think a little smart car which no ones wants to drive. lastly industry, most things we use in our daily lives produced co2 when being made, for example, iron, cement, etc..
The main causes of climate change is an increase in 5 main gases, water vapor which acts as a feedback becasuse as the plaent gets warmer the more water vapor in the air and more likly precipitation chance, Carbon dioxide which normally would be prodiced by the earth but since the start of the industrial revolution humnas have increase CO2 levels by a third, Methane which is mainly due to slaughter houses and outher relatable places due to them keeping animals hered together and dirty, Nitrous oxide which is due to farming such as fertilizer, biomass burning, etc…, Lastly CFC’s which are highly regulated due to them destrying the ozone layer. Lasly the article states “90 percent probability that human-produced greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide have caused much of the observed increase in Earth’s temperatures over the past 50 years.”
